'I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.'
Psalm 139:14
In a time where many are busy being someone else, I find it super important to be me. Sounds pretty simple right? Yet seems so rare and in some cases extremely hard for people to just be themselves. With the world constantly telling you how to be like someone else, it’s no wonder the struggle is real to be who you are and be comfortable with it. As useful a tool it is, social media is dangerous if you don't know who you are because comparisons are bound to happen and subconsciously (because I don't want to think it's done on purpose) you've somehow plucked the dress sense, speech and pose off of others and come up with a distorted version of yourself.
With this spot I’m taking up on the worldwide web I'm not going to call myself a blogger or an influencer even though what I’m doing is ‘blogging’ and I may be influencing my audience. But personally taking on those titles is something I want to avoid like the plague. I actually feel like the moment you adopt such titles pressure begins to mount upon your shoulders to churn out posts at a set time and to dress and pose in a certain way in a bid to stay relevant, all of which can bring forth something that is unauthentic. I’m going against the grain here daring to be myself in a world that tries to box us up and make us ONE of a kind in the sense of ALL THE SAME.
I was created authentic as were you, and it’d be a slap in the face to our Creator to go about life trying to be like someone else…so here I am; a child of God, a wife to my husband, a mother to my sons and the writer to my beautifully packaged truths.
*DISCLAIMER* Please don’t have any expectations of me, I’m not here to tell you how to dress even though I may share my fashion taste, how to contour even though I may be wearing makeup, where to travel to or what to eat.
My only hope is that you leave this site feeling inspired to be yourself.
